No. Gems are Blockbuster's in-app virtual currency. They can only be used inside the app and do not have the attributes of real-world currency.

Scores are based on the number of squares and lines cleared. Clearing multiple rows in one move can add a score multiplier, so planning larger clears is usually better than placing blocks one by one.

You can use the replace feature to refresh the available blocks when your current pieces do not match the board. Use it carefully, because saving replacements for tight board states can help extend a run.
